Film Review: Good Boys

It’s been a while! Apologies for the lack of reviews lately, I’ve been extremely busy and thought that it would be better to take a break rather than force myself to write when I wasn’t really feeling it. So, there’s a lot for me to catch up on! Just to ease myself back in, here’s a nice quick and simple review of Good Boys.

The premise of this film is extremely simple, three friends find themselves in a variety of ridiculous situations and mishaps in an attempt to appear “cool” to their peers and get access to a party. There’s not really much more to it than that!

Of course, the main pull factor of the film is the R-rating, which does lead to some quite comedic moments as these young kids tackle explicit topics that they often don’t understand properly. It certainly has it’s charm and there were plenty of moments that left me chuckling, but the main issue for me was that the film mostly relies on this niché, and it does get old quite quickly, unfortunately.

The young cast are very good, and the film sometimes has a few reflective moments about growing up and how life changes, which were nicely executed. But aside from that, it’s just a ridiculous 90 minutes and some nice, easy entertainment.

I wouldn’t go out of your way to watch it, but if it ever pops up on Netflix or Amazon Prime, then it’s something I could say is worth putting on if you’ve got nothing better to do, at the very least it will put a smile on your face at times!

I give Good Boys a 5.5/10.
